A resolute performance from Na Ceiltigh away in Killybegs as we secured a vital point. Trailing by two goals to nil deep into the second half, the Bhoys showed great spirit and character to score twice through Damien O’Sullivan. Another white hot Donegal League clash which was enjoyed by a sizeable crowd in the seaside town as both teams enjoyed periods of dominance throughout the ninety minutes. St Catherines started the brightest and attacked with numbers as they sought a win to keep their title hopes alive. A header from a free kick just before half-time gave the home team first blood. Gweedore fought back but were hit again when a poor clearance fell to a Killybegs man at the edge of the box and he hammered his shot past McKelvey in goal with ten minutes to go.
Gweedore didn’t give up and with time running out Damien O’Sullivan headed home at the back post from a free kick. With their backs up Gweedore kept pushing and when a Chris Porter free kick was spilled by the keeper O’Sullivan was there to finish and steal a point for the away team.
Best for Gweedore Celtic: Martin Curran, Damien O’Sullivan and Ownie McGarvey.
